They were married in front of friends and family at the bucolic Hamsey Church in Lewes, where Andrew’s parents Richard and Suzy also were married.
The reception was obligingly at Richard and Suzy’s home (Whitfeld) and involved a pig on the spit, several marquees, the obligatory speeches and folk dancing, fireworks and a several jokes about archaeologists.
The whole family was impeccably dressed, no more so than Sean and Ella who had just stepped out of a 30s gangster movie.

Franie overcame serious nerves to deliver a very emotional and moving speech in which he spoke of the roots of Malaika’s name, meaning Angel in Swahili and thanked everyone for coming from all over the globe. People from Tanzania, the Sudan, the Netherlands, Lebanon and New Zealand which was over-represented. He finished on saying “the best thing about marrying an archaeologist, is that as you get older…”.
Malaika and Andrew give their vows.

Sorry Malaika my bias is showing but I had to finish with the most beautiful woman at the wedding.
